Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
The show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is filming an episode just a few minutes away from where I work. The show will air in October. The company I work for is the designated healthcare provider to provide 24/7 medical care during the week of the build. I've decided to be one of "those" people and head over to the build site tomorrow during my lunch to try and catch a glimpse of some of the people. I really just want to see Ty. He's the only one on the show I recognize and that's only because I saw him on a different home show. This isn't a show I have ever watched. I just don't get into watching "reality" television. Primarily because it's not really reality. I also don't usually put myself in areas with a large amount of random people where my space will be invaded. I don't like not having control of who is in my space. It makes me...uncomfortable to say the least. However, I am going to suck it up and go because I really want to see the house. And I really want to see Ty. That is my motivation. If I get any, I'll post pictures.

the beginning
I’ve been feeling restless lately. This usually happens when a change is coming. Sometimes it’s a good change, sometimes not so good. I’ve been thinking about things that are ending and things that are beginning. I am closing in on the end of my final class in the Lay Pastor program through Dubuque Seminary. It is an end and a beginning. It’s an end because, of course, I am ending the course work. It is also the end of the beginning. I started this journey three years ago when I met with the committee on ministry. I was approved to start the course work in September 2007. My first class started in January 2008. My beginning is coming to an end at the end of this month. I will have a final exam to accomplish before I will be completely finished with this program.
I’m excited to see where the next beginning is going to lead me. It reminds me of the opening sentences from the gospel of John. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.” (John 1:1-2) This is one of my favorite scriptures. It reminds me that Jesus has been with us from the very beginning. He was with me at the beginning of this journey and He will be with me at the beginning of the next chapter of this journey.
God is shaking me up, I feel a change coming on…bring it on!
